Title: Polymer substrate and washing
Post by: Rupiah on February 17, 2016, 08:46:37 am
There has been some interesting discussion related to washing of banknotes.

Polymer banknotes are not affected adversely by water or solvents that do not dissolve ink. They have a varnish protective layer covering all but the clear window.

I wonder if the issue of washing may almost become a non-issue when polymer bank notes come of age in 100 years time. ::)

What is the typical attitude toward this and the behaviour of collectors and numismatists in places like Australia and New Zealand who have now had polymer notes for 20+ years?
