Title: Question about comments on TPG

Hello,

I saw a BCS TPG with the comments Planchet removed. Whats that and is this a defect or damage?

I assume they are talking about the little green circles or planchettes that can be removed
This ruins the bill as it will leave a space where the planchette was removed
No longer an original bill in my opinion
Since it has been altered
As a kid I remember removing them
Why?   Because you could
Would be interesting to see the slab
If it is given an original designation

It did not have the original designation. It was a 1975 $10 L/B EDX graded AU 58.

I got this response from BCS:

“Planchet Removed” means someone has removed one of the little green dots embedded within the paper known as “planchets”.  These are security devices on notes, but they are removable.  When one has been removed, I make mention of it.

I have seen many Bank of Canada 1935 notes that have missing planchets. I have always assumed that they fell off naturally as a result of the "wear and tear" associated with normal circulation.
