Just heard from a friend that the Royal Canadian Mint is “thinking/planning” of issuing a $2 twoonie Collectors Silver Coin (with selective gold plating) with 1996-2021, to celebrate the 25 years of the Twoonie, ALONG with a $2 Bird Series Note with the BRX prefix that had been stuck in the Royal Canadian Mint’s vault for all these years.
So, it will most likely look similar to the collectors’ set issued back in 1996 of the proof $2 silver coin with gold plating of the polar bear, and the $2 Bird Series BRX replacement note. A maximum of 7,500 sets expected to be produced. Price of set is around $150 or so.
