Title: Odd front and back plate number combo.
Post by: sudzee on December 27, 2003, 10:53:09 pm
Got some AYJ's today. The serial numbers are 3000 apart and should be from the same ream of 500 sheets ( 36 or 40 on ) but the front and back plate numbers are identicle. FP 81 - BP 98. Comments would be appreciated.

Picked up another pair today approx., 3000 apart,  again with identicle front and back plate numbers. This just does not make any sense to me. FP 61 - BP 92.

Is it possible that  BABN is now numbering the notes using a 5000 skip digit layout  instead of the old 500? A single replaced sheet would then be spread out over 200 blocks. Will all inserts now show damage from banding and handling since non will be found in the middle of the block? If anyone happens to get notes from 6 consecutive blocks please post front and back position numbers. Thanks, Gary

We are used to seeing one combination of back and front plate numbers per 40,000 notes. Identicle combinations would only show up every 40,000 notes. AY's are turning up with identicle combinations for at least 4,000 consecutive notes. Printing the old way involved only 3 ( last 3 ) advancing digits for each ream. AY's look like the last 4 digits are advancing. With the chance of error being increased by 33% I wonder if more error s will show up. Any Thoughts?

Below is a set of AYH (from circulation) 4.78 mil apart of each other, yet they both have the same fp 83 & bp 99  ???
While not an expert at all on this, I just like to see if there is anything strange with this find.
