Title: Forum crash?
Post by: Manada on October 22, 2005, 04:18:26 pm
Im not sure if its just me, but my computer crashes almost everytime I try to open a new message. Is anyone else having this problem, or is it my computer. I am completely updated with spyware, and virus protection.

I use this forum on two separate computers every day and I have no problem whatsoever. This is the first such report of any problems recently.

Same here; in fact that little popup has occurred rather frequently of late.

I just did the same sequence, and got the pop up screen as described, except it had my email address in it.

Yes, my website is currently having some issues. It is prompting for authentication whenever a request is made. Since some people are using images hosted on my website, users will get a pop-up asking for a password.

I'm working on getting this resolved as soon as possible, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing for my friends here at the forums.

Appears there may be a conflict of interest here.No need for a direct response. Yet I expect there'll be one anyway.

Not happening at all here, no forum problems at all for me.  I use the Safari browser on a computer running Mac OS X 10.4.2.

Conflict of interest? May I ask how? If you're going to suggest one, perhaps you could provide more details.

Very neat, Brent.

Conflict of interest may be if you are playing with two web sites at once, something got messed up in the electrons.

Rick

Believe me, that is hardly the case.

In case it wasn't clear the first time I explained it, allow me to go into further detail. Some people on this site, including myself and eyevet, are using images for their signature or in their posts which are stored on my website simply for a place to put them. Since my website currently has some weird issue, it is causing all requests to files on my website to prompt for a username and password. The thread mentioned above was posted in by eyevet, who at the time had a signature set to an image on my website. Every time someone loaded up that thread and in turn requested eyevet's signature image from my website, it prompted for a login.

In an effort to reduce the inconveniences caused by this problem on my website, I have removed as many of the affected images as I could reasonably manage.

I trust that this explanation dispels any misconceptions that there might have been some sort of a "conflict of interest" here.

Again, my apologies for the inconveniences, but as of this morning, my website seems to have returned to proper functionality again.

I am still waiting to hear what the cause of the problem was and how it was resolved, but I can tell you that everything is working properly again.

Thank you all for your patience.

It works just fine now.
Appears the screw up with connections to the other web site has been repaired.
