Title: $10 FER Brick mixupn and inserts?
Post by: polarbear on February 08, 2006, 10:07:08 pm
Had a New Brick of FER $10 bills from the bank.  Had all the bands.  All the  numbers were mixed up

I Believe there had to be inserts in this brick.   I organized the bricks to numbers and it goes everywhere.
Do they mix the $10 Bills as crazy as possible.  there was no real pattern.    The $5 bills were in a better order.  Is this the new way of higher notes?  Are there any inserts  besides the 9 millions?
I will send you info on the prefixes.

Help This one got me scratching my head. :'(

Did you happen to record the exact ordering of the notes as you received them and before you resorted them? As soon as you re-sort them, you lose the ability to detect whether or not you have any inserts.

Here we go.. Organized the bills and here is what we have..

All FER

6546319-6546410
6538319-6538381
6554319-6554391
6554492-6554499
6610319-6610499
6618387-6618486
6626473-6626499
6682444-6682499
6682319-6682343
6690368-6690467
6762381-6762380
6754319-6754498
6826406-6826499
6834330-6834429

Now here is the kicker..

Fer 6738453 -6738454  Can we assume there is a new insert for FER?

There are alot of marks that seeped through the back of the notes.  Were the Canada is on the front  middle.  the  ink was thick i believe and it seeped through the back of the other side just above the doves.   Are these with the heavy ink  marks called an ERROR note and are they worth a premium.

Hope you can help...

Cheers :P

they were everywhere.  from a group of notes to just a few.  There was no sense of organiziation in this brick.  Take a look at the numbers.

The FERs that you point out as possible replacements are only 2,000 away from other notes in the brick so they will be regular notes. Your brick contained notes from the 300s  and 400s only. You may have received replacements if you had the notes from the 000s or 500s.

A little bit of a ink transfer from the next note is quite common. If there is any premium it won't be much.

  Thanks.
Are$10  bricks regularily shuffled in such a way that it makes it impossible  to see if there is a replacement?

thanks

That is where understanding the printing process comes into play.  For $10s of that company, it is at the 000-001 and 500-501 position that inserts are put in.

Here is a comparison of FEU in almost an identicle range. 3 bricks received on 2 consecutive weeks but from the same group. Notes are documented as they came from the fresh brick. I beleive FER were found in decending order but many of FEU were in ascending order.

Just picked up my third straight FEU brick, also compiled in a similar fashion. This brick in the 650xxxx to 682xxxx is covering the 700-999 range. The previous 2 FEU bricks were in the 300-400 range. Absolutely no inserts or radars!
This is the 10th straight brick in a row for me with no inserts. Did get 1 ink smear note though. Is it just me or are the bricks coming in a more damaged state these days?

Wow.  I had three bricks in a row with no radars, and one with no inserts, and another with SIX insert sections.  Yikes.   About the quality, I have noticed alot more "little things"  i.e.: ink related than before.
