Hey Rusty,

That's pretty bad.  I can't believe that note made it through.  Anyhow, what are you going to do?  I am not sure if the bank branch will believe you.  They'll say, yeah... right...

This happened to a friend of mine, he withdrew some $20s from an ATM and there was a fake in it.  The ATM was attached to a bank, which was closed.  He notified the local RCMP, and then he had to go in and file a report.  The RCMP contacted the bank on his behalf.  He then took the bogus bill to the bank when it was open, the bank gave him a new $20, andthe bank then returned the bad $20 to the RCMP.

This is one more reason why I never use "while label" ATMs!

I think he meant to say "white label " ATM's or an ATM not connected to a bank. The type you sometimes see in a mall or casino and always charge for using them.

Hi,

It's a very nice phony note you got, Rusty.  It's very similar to mine I found few months ago (see my post about QXE note).  The overall quality seems good enough to pass quite easily in most places (especially where there is not a strong light  as in bars and discotheques).

Is your note have anything which could look like as a watermark there is absolutely a blank zone?  Have you looked at your note under a longwave UV light? Is the resolution good enough to read the plate position numbers?

I think that the new security features are a kind of challenge for the really good fakers and they're trying to make the best phony note.  One day, they will certainly be able  to put good looking waternarks and security threads...

Maybe it's time to the BOC to think for the next serie and it would be a great idea  to switch to polymer notes, as in Australia and New-Zealand.  Now, these countries have pratically no more counterfeited notes, since the polymer used isn't commercial...

........no watermark, plate numbers were readable - but not crisp, and the number 20 "puzzle pieces" didn't quite line up front to back when held up to the light.

My note has the "see-through" 20 quite well aligned, different from your's... And too, the plate number is readable but not sharp.  The notes comes probably from the same professionnal fakers, but as in any process, there is some variations from a run to the next.  Maybe their QC isn't as good as in the BABN or CBN...;).
