Title: 2001 $10 - Duplicate Serial Number
Post by: Oli1001 on May 08, 2006, 11:10:10 pm
Here is another example of a 2001 Journey $10 fake. These notes have the gold leaf security feature. Also they have the same serial number! I've struck gold, in the charlton it states that duplicate serial numbers are 'seldom found'. I found a real treasure ;).....Alright, back to reality - these notes aren't worth much, just that they look cool side by side with the same numbers.

Here is blotch on the front due to a typical water mark. It's on Sir John A's eye (top note).

Hey Oli

Just goes to show why the Journey $10 needed an overhaul.  Is it not the most counterfeited denomination in all of BOC's histlry?

Ya its a good thing that they upgraded the notes, but that really didn't discourage counterfeiters. I've already seen many counterfeit journey 20s/50s/100s at the local banks. I think the problem was that the notes were too simple and that many punks with laser/color printers printed them in their basements. I think if the same printing technology was around in the late 80s/early 90s we would see many more home grown printing operations as we do today.
