Title: $5 Misplaced Serial Number
Post by: Oli1001 on July 10, 2006, 05:50:21 pm
Just found this note in circulation. This is not just a large bottom border rather the serial number, both on the left and right side of the barcode, is printed lower then normal. The error note is place beside a regular note for comparison.

Anyone else find anything like this?

I have occasionally found these. I have found that there is not much of a premium attatched to it though, perhaps it is not considered as serious of an error.
But if you are just holding onto the prefixes, then that would be a nice one. :)

Thanks huds. I wasn't sure if this was a slightly rare error or not on these Journey notes. But I guess not, if you say you have occasionally found some of these.

Mostly on the Bird series though...  couple times on the Journey.

I have some HNK $5 SN#'s that are lower (not as low as that one) but much lower than other prefixes too.  I think the SN shift up and down is a variation we see from time to time.  Not common, but whether its uncommon enough to command much of a premium is in the buyer's hands.  Like "missing circles" on the $10's (which are not too common but not really "rare") there are thin and large borders on the fives too, but whether there's the demand is another story.

Agreed. The small bordered notes only command a premium if the date is cut off or almost cut off.
