Title: Is this forum useful?
Post by: BWJM on August 06, 2006, 03:56:48 am
Since the $1,000 notes have long ago been culled from circulation, is there any value in retaining this forum? Does anyone care about the highs and lows of $1,000 notes? The serial number ranges are well-established now, and many notes are long gone.

Thoughts and comments are appreciated. Your votes will help determine the fate of this forum.

Thanks!

I think the forum has served it's use. Just like why we do not post about old established prefixes of the $20s. The information is complete here.  But man, I really like that little logo. :)

I'm sure this forum has been useful in the past (for some).

But now:

I think the forum should go the way of the $1000 note  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Could this forum be replaced by another:  one that discusses year/signature change-overs, insert speculation, the next prefix, etc?   I've seen plenty of these kinds of posts on the highs & lows, and wonder if a separate forum would provide a better outlet for such SPECULATION  ::)

I agree with walkonwater.  Even though the 1000 notes are beatiful the valuable space can be used for future forums  Having a different subject is great.  Moves with the times.

I personally like the $ 1000 note, plus I had the last post in this forum for months ;D

However it's not really serving any purpose.

I'd keep it just for the sake of completeness.  There is little activity, so the section likely uses almost no resources.

I agree with eyevet, keep it for completeness and historical value!

What I would really like to know what 's the population of the 1937 $ 1000 and the low high in that series

I agree with keeping the forum. Keeps the site complete.

But I also agree with having a NEW Forum about Sigs/Prefixes/Inserts all that kind of Misc chat that is spread across the threads.  :)

I'd also like to keep this forum for completeness, it's nice having it there.  It's not like it's getting in the way of anything.

What I WOULD like to see is the Radar forum expanded to "Radars and other special serial numbers".  Right now there is no place for discussions of ladders, million-numbered notes, "rotators", etc.  Such topics often tend to get buried in the Bank of Canada Notes or the General forum.

Seth, I like that idea too.
"I second the motion". (Always wanted to say that)

I think its useful because $1000 notes are nice and have significant value like the 1954 Devils Face $1000 which is worth $11,500 UNC. Thats just my opnion.

I fourth the notion.

I also think if the $1000 forum can be kept, it should be.  For people like myself that are fairly new to collecting, it's a part of the overall education of this site.

I believe that this forum should be maintained. A collector obtaining a $1000 note for the first time can still find some useful information here.
