I think you did very well considering almost all of them had ripples. It should be a rare note indeed.

It is very rare and essential "key note" if you wish to collect the rarest of the original Journey series.  Also exceptionally rare without ripples, as "4teeth" puts it. I'd say a fair deal.  And they'll jump up a surprising factor in the next book (as their rarity becomes appreciated).  You can't go wrong with a 2003 BEK insert (or non-insert).   When they're that top quality its like the top dealers who ask $200 above book...and get it. Everyone knows its worth it in the long run.

These BEK notes in any grade are almost impossible to find. Actually in a very rare case, it is the non-insert BEK 2003 notes that are the rarest with selling price as high as $400 in Gem-Unc. I would say owning any BEK 2003 rather its an insert or not, they are all equally very rare!

What makes 2003 BEK notes (insert or not) so appealing is that they're a rarely seen year and signature change-over all in one.  Added to the fact that they were part of the BOC recall, seldom seen in bricks of BEM's (BEM's were an incomplete released prefix), some were inserts, others not, it is no wonder that they keep climbing in BV and actually consistently surpass book.

Archey I would say you got a good deal.
Was in a shop the other day with my stuff and the fellow noticed a BEK insert of mine 9.59. He wanted to know if it was for sale.

I said no, because the cat. said $175. I said that I would need at least $250 before I would even consider it.
Without batting an eye, he bought it at that price: $250. This is a DEALER we are talking about. He said he has large demand for that note.

Just to get the word out there that there is significant demand- even above cat value.

It sold for that price, WITH natural ripples.
