Title: 1954 two dollar bills
Post by: snapper on November 29, 2006, 04:46:54 pm
I have five 1954 2 dollar bills in mint shape with the serial numbers in sequence. Are they worth anything?

Depends what are the serial numbers and the letters before the numbers.

Sorry I only have four but the numbers are "pg9093801, pg9093802, pg9093803, pg9093804". I also have a set of three "pg8482344, pg8482345, pg8482346" and a set of two "kg2903929, kg2903930". I also have a lot more one's and two's, plus a few fives, tens, and twenties. Is there anything special I should look for that would affect there value.

The P/G could be worth $14.00 if UNC condition (pretty much perfect).  The K/G2903930 looks like its out of range to be an asterisk * so are probably worth $13 each.

Does having sequential serial numbers add to the value of older bills in anyway? Thanks for your help.

What do the letters at the beginning of the serial number mean? Are certain combinations more desirable than others? Thanks again.

Yes some letters are very rare and hard to find on the $2 bill from 1954 the E/R S/R and G/R are all very rare. The best thing to do is to post what notes you have Prefix(letters before serial number) and the serial number also try and make out the signature on the note along with what shape the note is in if it has not been folded or anything like that. Someone will reply with there value.
