Title: Japanese Government 5 Pesos Note
Post by: BWJM on June 07, 2004, 11:39:01 pm
I was wondering if these have any value?  They are somewhat limp, so probably F at best.  They look very similar in style to the US $5s and I suspect that they were used in post-war Japan during the American occupation.

Can anyone give me an indication of value and perhaps more information about these notes?

(PS: Also, the same request, but for a smaller, 10 centavos note, also from the Japanese Government).

Thanks!

As far as I know, these were issued for use in the Phillipine Islands, as occupation currency.
Some are quite valuable, in higher denominations and in crispy condition.
I have sold a couple of eBay a couple of years ago.
I was surprised by the interest in them and the prices paid.
