Title: Question and help with ID for Ukrainian (?) note...
Post by: ikandiggit on December 07, 2008, 07:20:50 pm
I have two of these notes (100 Rubles, I think) in my collection. Both have the same serial number (AA-3062). Was this normal? Are these from Ukraine, Poland, or Russia?

This is the so-called “serial” numeration: to print the same ordinal number of a given two-lettered series with decreased digit quantity. Each number of “serial” numeration printed on the 1 million banknotes.

Such system of a serial note numeration was applied in 1915 for 1 ruble credit notes of 1898 pattern and in 1917 for 5 rubles credit notes of 1909 pattern, 250 rubles notes of 1917 pattern, then for credit notes denominated from 1 up to 1000 rubles of 1918 pattern, and later on for Soviet notes.

Series numeration of 100 rubles note of 1922 year began with № 3001.
