It has been no surprise that the number 8 seems to be a popular number to most serial number collectors, I think the following articles best explain the Asian tradition of 'Lucky Money'.

As an ethic Asian myself I'm having a difficult time finding red envelopes large enough so I wouldn't have to fold the notes. I know they're out there. This is one way I could get my nieces & nephews into collecting banknotes.

Heh, when my dad gave me these 10 uncirculated 10s last year, I just cheated and left them flat and sticking out of the envelope. I do believe I have seen envelopes that are big enough to keep the notes flat, but I don't know where they came from, or, even if this is a real memory.

Yeah. I had to do it that way as well so that limits me to giving them away only at the end of the occasion. Remember it's supposed to be a surprise for the recipient or they will be cursed with bad luck.
