Title: Does Anyone Collect Dominion Notes anymore?
Post by: Australia on February 13, 2009, 07:59:12 am
I've been out of touch from the Canadian paper money market for sometime as I've been in Australia for the past 3 years although I do get Charlton Catalogue when it comes out.  I acquired the bulk of my Canadian collection during the late 80s and early 90s with most of my collection being 1924 and before, mostly in VF condition (grading appears to slipped in the past 15 years on the older notes from what I can see on ebay and other auctions).

I think the wiki note registers are a great idea!

I notice on this forum it seems the bulk of the interest is in Journey series replacement notes (I think by getting rid of '*' and 'X' designation it taken a lot of the fun out of pulling note out of circulation or pulling a crisp 20 out of an ATM).

Although here in Australia we have plastic money - and 50 are as common as 20 in Canada, and if you press notes here they shrivel or melt.

I would be interested to hear for other DoC collectors.

That is a good way to prevent the pressing of notes with heat based sources, though I'm sure someone has found a way around that.
