Title: Journey $2 Test note???
Post by: BWJM on October 05, 2004, 12:37:01 am
I picked up some new $20s today from a TDCT ATM in Kitchener and I found this one in among a stack of 15 notes (I was withdrawing $300).  The other notes were AYT.

Could this possibly have been a test to see what a Journey $2 would look like???  The back of the note was blank and thus it had no serial number.

When I saw the note, I didn't say anything to the bank because despite only getting $282, that $2 note has gotta be worth a heckofa lot more than $20!!!

This is NOT for sale until I can get a handle on what it might be worth.

Congratulations on an excellent find :D

I see that the Queen still remains the portrait on the new $2's ;D

I dunno....
A fellow collector with an established reputation offering such anote as a possible Test Note for the defunct $2.00 bill.
As well the holographic strip is screaming 20's.
Nice try though.

OK, you guys got me... Yes, it is a fake.  ::)  I scanned in my Journey $20 and played around in Photoshop a bit.  A friend of mine wanted a picture of a Journey $2 note so this is what came out of that little endeavor.

BTW: canada-hongkong was the first person to spot that it was indeed a fabrication.

BUT, I did get a few of you.  Tom, for one, was fooled by the image.  I had him convinced that it was some kind of internal test note that came from a sheet slipped into the pile of regular notes.  ;D

Which brings me to ask a question that I was going to post.

Are there "test notes" made with these new notes?

Have there been any since the '73 and '74 ones and twos respectively?

The latest Charlton Catalogue does mention briefly about the two known experimental notes. They do state the serial number JHS, JPH, both with serial number 2912607. It's on page 292 - titled under "Experimental Notes".

I wonder if there is another experimental note with the same number for this $20 note aswell?

Yeah, I know... I haven't been able to master that little aspect of Photoshop yet.  I played around with it a bit, but it just looked horrible.

 I don't trust BWJM  >:(

Not since he emailed me a picture of an X- note I sent him and it had mis-matched numbers with a little bit of his computer magic he does, but he made me believe I had not noticed this before I sent it.
My heart skipped a beat that night but I'll look closer at his errors from now on.

BWJM is very trustworthy exept when it has to do with images.  :o

LMAO - So true!  I did work a little Photoshop magic on him a while back.  As Gary says, I'm almost always honest, but I do like to have a little fun with this stuff sometimes. ;D

Then how come the "fake" Journey $2 test note is green and not reddish-brown, like the last of its real kind?

Brent, what does the verse read on the "so-called" Journey $2 "test" note?

I believe it is some kind of a curse that relates to bad luck, the "deuce", a slang term for the Devil, etc. I don't have the wording handy. ;)

BWJM your bill is very nice, but the back does not represent the " journey serie" It should have been a monument or something like that...It is nearer the Bird series according to me :P

It will be cool if you were able to make a 1$ bill with the 10$ :) Make us dream more a little bit...

You'd have to replace MacDonald's portrait on the ten with the Queen on the $20.  Besides, the $20 is pretty much the same colour as the long-demised $1 bill.  To make a "mock" Journey $1 note, you'd have a lot of work to do.  ;D

It could be done.

I managed to make a good mock Birds $1, but the colours were quite tricky to manipulate.  The several hues in the background were difficult to mimic.

I was looking through this post and tried the 2 websites that suredetta had posted but went up to sites about polarbears. Maybe some will show me an image of the "Fake" $2 Journey Test Note. Thank You.  :)
