Title: Mismatched Serial Number $20 Canadian
Post by: ikandiggit on July 02, 2009, 09:43:11 pm
Pretty excited finding this in my change today. I've probably looked at a thousand bills a week for the last year at work and never found one. I get this one handed to me ;D:

Congratulations! I would like to have that kind of luck every once in a while.

ELN 972-990 Is a confirmed insert range, so this may or may not be an insert error, no way of knowing for sure

If it was, how much would it increase the value?

value is always in the eye of the buyer, as far as I can tell there is no book value for such a note, but I don't think you'll find a buyer who won't admit that the 50/50 chance of this being an insert note error, has to raise the value to some degree.

Thanks! I have a buyer who has yet to complete the transaction (he's waiting for funds from a sale he made). His offer was $500 for this bill. In the ballpark?

The book value for a $20 in uncirculated condition with one digit mismatched, on page 384 of the 21st edition catalogue, is listed at $450
