March 9th coin roll hunting results:

I finished hunting all of the coins I brought home the other day.

Here’s what I found:

Two colour 2021 dimes
$5 in US coins
Some pure nickel 5c coins
A colour 2017 quarter
Some 1968 nickel alloy dimes
Two 1969 dimes
One 1952 dated nickel and one silver quarter dated 1938!

I was reluctant to take the rolls of quarters because they are usually a bust, but then silver shows up in them, so you never know…

The worst part of roll hunting is short rolls…There were 8 nickel rolls in this batch with 39 coins in them so I was down 40 cents.  😡

Enjoy!

If there are no INV prefixes in Ontario at this point, this could mean that particular prefix could be a candidate for arriving to Atlantic Canada in due time.

I did see a $5 INT note inside a donation box last fall, and it was in the 3 million range.  I agree that we are long due to see the existing $5 notes with prefixes starting with H get replaced with the newer IN* prefixes.  Those particular H prefixes are at least five years old now, and should be due for replacement soon enough.

I do apologize but I forgot to add the INV prefix as I've seen them circulating around in Toronto but I haven't seen a INZ prefix yet.

Looks like the HB* series are starting to vanish and partially HC* series as I have been tracking my entry of $5 notes into the SNDB and I see the IN* prefix are starting to take over like you mentioned above. I heard that the next prefix will be IO* according to a member of this forum.

I am still selling my Bank of Canada duplicates which I have listed on my Notaphilyc Culture site:
https://sites.google.com/view/notaphilycculture/list-of-bank-of-canada-available

(All my 1935 series are sold except a few $1.00 notes. Many other series available)

I also have listed my WORLD Duplicates here (listed in USD since I bought them in USD):

Let me know what you are looking for.  Cheques & EMT preferred.

FYI  I'm in Toronto and have been finding INVs at a west end branch - same branch I found more than half of the INYs currently listed in the SNDB.

March 7th finds:
I picked up a large haul of customer wrapped coins from the bank today.
The signs are promising; I think I see a silver quarter and a 12 sided nickel right off the bat!
Wish me luck…

Out of curiosity, I just checked the high/low database for INV and there are 159 reports from Ontario and Quebec over the last few months.  I know in the Ottawa Valley, there are plenty of INV banknotes and now INZ.  What is really interesting is the next prefix after INZ!!!

Back to $2 twoonies, plenty of 2024 KC in circulation in the Ottawa area.

Just my thoughts, Whitenite

I’m from Atlantic Canada, and I haven’t yet seen any INV prefix notes. INT is starting to become quite common, but INU and up I have not spotted. I will be posting them to the SNDB when I find them.
