91   General Forum Comments / SNDB "suspect notes" link

Hi,

The link in the Serial Number Database that leads to the "suspect notes" is broken and will not load.  I want to post a photo of my latest find for confirmation but I can't access the link.

Thanks,
Dean

I found this email while scrolling through the forum.

Try emailing sndb@cdnpapermoney.com

I don’t know if that email is active or not because BWJM posted the email to a thread 9 years ago but if it does work I’m sure they will enter it in the suspect note SNDB

Well, what do you know. I received my first King Charles coin today.  Got it in my change at a Sobeys supermarket - it was a quarter, and I believe it was one of the elusive 2023 series, and it makes sense since it didn't appear that new to me.

I have a feeling they will be quite rare in Newfoundland for a few years - just like was the case with the Viola Desmond $10s - which had a very tiny number in circulation for its first few years, and became quite common five years later.  Either way, I won't be spending that quarter any time soon.

Dean, I don't know of a way to confirm a SNDB contribution if it gets submitted without an image attached at the same time. Trying to verify such a note just gives the following error message:

You cannot confirm or flag this note until an image has been posted.

November 10th:

I found this polymer $50 a few days ago and I tried to upload a photo for confirmation to the SNDB but the page would not load.

So, here it is:

GMP 0741530 the low for the prefix with only 4 notes reported.

Enjoy!

If they keep Laurier on the $5, then chances are (Mackenzie) King will remain on the vertical $50 and Borden will likely remain on the vertical $100.  But it doesn't matter anymore, since I am getting up there in age, and I don't know if I could be around to see the latest banknote series release their fifth and final new banknote. MacDonald will likely be dropped from our banknotes due to his past policies and controversy.

When the new $20 is issued in early 2027, I will have just turned 54.  If they release new banknotes every eight years after that, I will be 62, 70 and 78 respectively.

November 4th finds:

I bought a lot of circulated notes and there was writing on the back of this $1…
It reads “$30 Margo La Plante”
Unfortunately, the name is written on the back of an *FA replacement note! :(

This set of three $2 notes appears to be a keepsake dump.  I think the person’s name was Franz…

The first note says “From mummy 1995” then “Happy New Year 1995” Franz?
Love Mum

The second note says “From Grandma 1995” “Happy New Year Franz?”

And the third note says “From Aunty Peri 1995”.

Seeing notes like this for sale is ind of sad because it indicates that they are no longer treasured keepsakes…
I fear that my descendants will do the same thing to my collection when I’m gone.  Nobody else in my family collects anything and my nieces and nephews don’t use cash…

Enjoy!

November 4th finds and mail call!

I went to one of my banks today.  They had no paper money, but they did have four bags of pennies and a box of customer wrapped nickels and a few rolls of customer wrapped dimes.  I’ll update whenever I finish hunting all of these coin rolls…

When I got home, I received two envelopes.  Why would I buy more circulated notes?

Well, there were two *FA replacements and a couple of other surprises I will discuss in my other thread.

Enjoy!

November 3rd finds:
More paper and silver too!

Yesterday, one of my banks gave me two birds $100s.  While I was there, I picked up a few rolls of dimes.

My silver streak continues!  There was one 1968 silver dime in the rolls, $1.30 in US dimes, a 2023 King Charles dime, a few commemoratives, a 5 pence coin from the UK and three 1968 nickel alloy dimes.

Enjoy!

The M/P prefix came right after the 1967 commemorative issue so presumably wouldn't have been issued until late '67 or early '68.  Your eyes are better than mine though because that stamp just looks like a blue smudge to my eyes.
