Hi,

I recently got this note and was wondering if there are any indications of how many of these notes still exist.

I really don't have a clue what's a reasonable survival rate out of the 400,000ish produced.

The Serial number is EHX0110665

Also what value can be expected for a correctly graded note as a percentage of catalog.

Thanks in advance for any insight you might offer.

Cheers,

e

One of these sold on ebay not long ago and it seemed to be cheap but it may have been trimmed looking at the top.

It was item number : 150391624368

Thanks that was very quick feedback.  I appreciate your response.

Took a look at the note you mentioned and it seems to have a tear above the right serial number ending just above the 4.  It wasn't described and I can't be sure but it sure looks that way.

This probably kept it low.  I have very little experience grading but the not I have seems to have only one crease splitting the note down the middle and it is considerably less pronounced than the one that sold on ebay.

Thinking my note should be an EF but certainly not sure.

Thanks again.  Still interested in value but more curious about what people think about numbers.  Is there a register of these specific bills identified?

Hi,

Thanks for all the great information.

I wasn't seeking info on the serial number but on how one estimates how many of these bills are still in existence.

I realize we'll never know and new ones will pop up on occasion.

Also, just trying to reconcile how an EHX bill with an estimated printing of 400,000 is more than double across the board when compared to an *HB with an estimated printing of 240,000.

Any guidance would be great.

The number printed doesn't determine scarcity.
The number that were saved does.

I agree 100% with Bob’s comment above, the amount save is very relevant to the market price.

Here are my thoughts.

The asterisk notes were much easier to spot as something out of the ordinary, and in-turn more were saved.

The EHX are replacement notes, and are also know as a changeover prefix, where there are two signature varieties known. Once a changeover prefix is spotted, it is much easier to hold onto the new signature variety, then to find the older ones.

What I can assure you is that when I was looking for a L-B EHX, it took me along time to find a suitable note for my collection, where as the C-B EHX seemed to always be available.
