I have a 1986 $2:00 note that I am trying to understand where it falls in terms of the Charlton Cat. number.
It is a Thiessen-Crow BBL 8725739.  It definitely has 1 large B and 1 small B.  The most obvious is that it falls under BC-55b with 220,000,000 printed but if it does fall there why did they not break that up into separate lists of small B - large B  and 2 small B's similar to that of the BGA-BGZ notes?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

In the BB- series, all notes from BBA-BBN were large/large. All notes from BBR-BBZ (BBX excluded) were small/small. BBP was split down the middle with the changeover believed to be at 3500000.

Thanks Brent.

That is interesting.  It sure looks like one small and one large B.  I will try and post a picture later on today or tomorrow.

Bear in mind that it's only the first letter of each prefix that changes. In all cases, the second letter is small.

For example, with a BBL note, it would be large B, small B, L (on the left), large B, small B, L (on the right). This is referred to as a large/large variety.
