I thought this was an interesting note.  1954 $1 A/A 0000002 in clearly circulated condition.  Since this is the first prefix I thought that the first fifteen or so were kept by the Bank of Canada.

In any case all of the first prefix low serial DF notes that I've seen have been Unc as it seems that first few hundred were given away as matched sets.  The lowest serials I've seen were a partial set of serial number 22 though.

Any ideas how this might have slipped out?  And anyone know which serial numbers are held by the BoC?

Really amazing to see the 2nd note of the Devil's Face 1954 series.

It does seem odd that this one slipped out of private hands but there are a lot of people who don't notice much about money (& there's always the children/descendants of who may have been gifted the note).

The early BOC DF notes could be seen on their BOC museum:
https://www.bankofcanadamuseum.ca/collection/artefact/view/1976.0018.00001.000/canada-bank-of-canada-1-dollar-1954
(an example of the #1 *A/A replacement)

I gave up trying to navigate the BoC site.  It's completely disorganized and the pictures are so tiny you can't even see what you're looking at.

Wow! Really nice find note #2 in circulation. The lowest note i have ever managed to find in circulation was #59 followed by #82. We talk about low numbered notes a lot, but is there any market for high numbered notes? A long time ago back when the bird series was still in issue i managed to find a $5 with #9999985 which is one of the highest i have ever seen.

Wow! Really nice find note #2 in circulation.

Just to be clear I did not find this note in circulation.  Someone must have spotted it a long time ago.  My lowest personal finds were double digits as well.
