Anyone going to bid on this bad boy?  That's got to be on of the best looking 500s I've ever seen.

What are your guesses for what it will fetch?

Well, it sold for 360,000 CAD (excluding buyer's premium). Considering the estimate was 500,000 to 600,000 that must have been a disappointment.

A $10,000 US Federal Reserve Note recently sold for USD 480,000

Given that VF30s have sold as high as 250k in the last few years it seems like the buyer got quite a bargain.  I'm not sure how that US FRN compares to past trends but I feel like the whole market (for everything) is in a liquidity crunch right now.  If you have the $$$ to spend you could be picking up some great bargains.

+1
But mainly for CDN & World currency IMO. The US collector market still seems pretty frothy for large size & the tougher early small notes. As such, I would say no big bargains but more like "paying through the nose" for US big ticket items.
