Surprise, Surprise.  :o :o

Just heard from a very reliable source that after AZZ,  the new series of $20 Journey prefix will be ALA ....  In fact, prefixes ALA, ALB & ALC have surfaced back East very recently!!

I suppose those of us who were betting on BIA... etc have just learnt they have lost their shirts.  :-[ :-[

I'll have to see it to believe it.  All of those prefixes already appeared on 1973 $1 notes.  I can't see why the BOC would want to start recycling serial numbers when so many unused ones are still available.

Got any scans for us? ???

I too must see it before I believe it. Even a scan might not suffice, as I know people who are quite talented with Photoshop.

I recall that prefix ALE was passed when numbering the 1973 $1's.  IF it is true that there is an AL_ series of $20 prefixes coming out, it will be interesting to see if BoC dares to use ALE this time.

I just dont see why the bank of Canada would use ALA-ALZ for the $20 when it has all been used for the $1 back in the '80s. It doesn't make any sense.

Alright, I've sent off an email to the Bank of Canada requesting more information.

Two independent users have now provided scans of this truly mind-boggling situation.

ALC is now, despite all doubts, a legitimate Journey $20 prefix.

WHY THE PRÉFIX, (ALA-ALZ) WHY NOT PRÉFIX, (AAA-AAZ), (ACA-ACZ), (AFA-AFZ),( AMA-AMZ)

Its very odd i know! So those of us who have any $1 with ALA-ALZ we will be able to find matching numbers with the new journey 20's  ;D

Gee, I guess seeing is believing.   :P

Anyone want to bet that they skip ALE this time?

I seem to have ruffled some feathers with my initial post on this subject. I have sent a personal note to the individual I have been told about by another party.

It was not my intention to offend anyone, or insinuate that someone could not be trusted. The absurdity of the suggestion that ALC might be reused was so against the history of the BoC's 3-letter prefixes that it was quite simply unbelieveable. My reference to Photoshop was meant to hint at myself, going back to the Journey $2 that I had posted not terribly long ago.

I should reaffirm that I trust the word of all of the members in this particular thread. I am sorry for having unintentionally implied any sense of distrust on anyone.

Respectfully,
Brent W.J. Mackie
