Even if this is a genuine error note with missing serial numbers, I'd be reluctant to pay even $100 for it, with all those coffee stains (or whatever they are) on it.

I wonder if the ENTIRE note has been examined, front and back?  The serial number might have been misplaced on the note when printed by the BofC, and then later removed chemically to increase its value as an error...

I would think that if the serial number was misplaced he would sell it like that and remove the number from a regular note if he knew how.

Still kind of new to this, especially error notes. I wouldn't pay much more than $50, as the stains on the bill scream chemical residue or something.

Personally I would'nt buy this note either mostly because of the stain but you would think if he could remove a serial number he should be able to remove a stain.

The condition of this note makes it possibble to be fake, I have a $1 note missing serial numbers on both sides in EF-AU and it is easy to tell that it is real because you can see the sheen on the note.

Thats what I thought and the only reason without having the note in your  hand to examine you would think it is a ture error.
