The 19th Edition 2007 Charlton Catalogue of Canadian Government Paper Money lists the
E18 - Misplaced Serial Number Error as follows:
"The serial number may be overprinted out of register, inverted (printed upside down in the signature
position), overprinted on the back or inverted on the back."
Values are only shown for up to the $100 denomination but I would extrapolate the values and estimate the
following for the $1000 denomination
Number Inverted on the Face $1600+
Number Inverted on Back $1500+
The issue and grade of the note will have some bearing on the final estimated market value as well.
An image of the banknote error would be extremely helpful for the valuation process.
