I have come across a 1935 Canadian $25 bill.  There is a date of May 6th 1935 on the lower right of the bill.  The serial number is A002516.  There is two pictures on the front showing King George V and Queen Mary.  This bill has two signatures of the deputy governor on the left and the governor on the right.  On the back shows a picture of what the caption says, Windsor Castle. This is the English version.  It is a bit tattered with a few creases on it but was just wondering if there is any value to it.  If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Yes you do have a very desirable note.

If possible please post some pictures or send them to me jcaissic296@rogers.com and I will post them. I can then help determine a very accurate value for your note.

Yes a scan would be very helpful. The value of these notes range from $1,250-15,500 pending its condition.  From what you describe your note, it sounds like a F to VF which would be worth $3,750-4,800. A very good note to own!  :)

Markus has provided these scans to me

I am posting these on his behalf. I would value the note between a VG and a VG/Fine

So if the note was a VG+ the value is around $3,000?

Yes around that price.

The paper fabric appears to me to be Fine or possibly even better but the serial numbers are strangely faded (washed out?) and the vignette of Windsor Castle on the back lacks the usual detail and looks very foggy (compare with scan below). However, perhaps the scanner was to blame for these visual effects? There don't appear to be any major defects like tears, just a bit of a stain on the front in the bottom margin. I don't think it's been washed and pressed but it may possibly have been stored in a wet or damp environment at one time. I think most sellers would advertise this as a Fine or even as a Fine+ but conservative buyers would probably say About Fine in view of the faded serial numbers and foggy reverse vignette. It's probably a $3,500-$4,000 note in today's retail marketplace although it would have to be inspected and graded by an experienced collector or dealer to come up with a definite value.

This is a scan of a photo copy that is posted.  This is not a scan of the original.  I may have lost some resolution from the photo copy and then the scan of the photo copy.  Would that be possible?

Yes, that's probably what happened. In addition, there could have been some colour distortion/aberration during the photocopying process. The actual note would therefore presumably look better than in the scan posted above.

I was going to comment on the color of the note but I guess it has to do with the scanning process.
