There was some discussion on this forum several years ago, concerning modern reproductions of the Bank of Western Canada 1859 $1 note. A less commonly seen reproduction which needs to be guarded against is the Henry's Bank $1 1837. The genuine notes are printed on very thin parchment paper, the signatures, date and number will be written by hand in brown ink, and the notes will be endorsed on the back.
The reproductions are on heavy paper, stained to produce the illusion of antiquity. The signatures, date, etc. are in black, printed at the same time as the rest of the note. Of course the printing is not engraved, and lacks the fine detail and clarity of the genuine note. The back of the repro note lacks the endorsement. All copies of the reproduction are numbered 14118/C.
