1974 $2 tints

I searched through some old posts but didn't find my answer.

Why do the first $2 notes printed in 1974 start with a modified tint, then revert to the original tint.  Wouldn't it be the other way around?  The terms seem backwards to me.

Am I correct in understanding;
Modified is BA-BP, with a small portion of BC as original tint.
Original tint starts in BP and is used for all subsequent notes.

Also, there was a post that showed the difference between the two tints but the images have now been deleted.

All of prefix BA, all of prefix BB and most of prefix BC up to 8599999 were "original tint".

From BC 8600000 through BP 7719999 were "modified tint"

then from BP 7720000 to the end of the series were again "original tint".

There may be a bit of a typo in the catalogue that is confusing you.   Directly under the first line of BC-47a detailing prefix BA and BB there is a blank line which reads "modified tint".  I suspect this should  read "original tint".

Yes, that was the confusing part in the book.  Your clarification makes perfect sense now.

Anyone have a nice example of each to post...for those of us that missed the other posting last year.

I would also like some clarification about these 1974 $2 tints.

I have a BC7235902 original tint
and a BC9062254 modified tint
and when I place them beside each other I can see no difference at all.

I also have a BP0908331 modified tint
and i have a BP9274636 original tint

All four of these notes (BC's and BP's) appear the same to me.

What am I not seeing?
