Over the past few weeks, I've seen a number of different names for this new series of banknotes, all in various forms of use:
"Canada's Achievements at the Frontiers of Innovation" - This is in the title of the press release from the Bank of Canada on June 20 when they announced the new designs of the $100 and $50.
"Frontiers" - This seems to be a "short form" of the first idea, but has little or no official usage in any Bank of Canada material.
"Polymer" - As simplistic as it sounds, this seems to be the official name of the series as used by the Bank of Canada. The Bank refers to this series as the "
Polymer series" in
its webpage on banknote series and as simply "the polymer series" in other text.
This is not going to be the only series of polymer banknotes in Canada, so perhaps the name "Polymer" might be a poor choice. But on the other hand, this seems to be the Bank's preferred name.
Any thoughts on this subject?
