A couple nice finds...

Hey all. New to this site but I thought i would put my first post here.I went thru my uncles coins that he left me and found these. Hope i can upload them. I would put the nickel at a vg8 i think. Do major scratches significantly devalue the coin? Obviously they would on a higher quality coin but im not sure exactly. The coin would for sure be at least a vg8 or even better without the scratches. Also have this gold coin. Would put it at a VF20? Thx for any help...                                      cheers

Very nice... i see you got the very rare 1953 5¢ No shoulder fold/Near maple leaf variety. It appears to be a VF-20 so it would be worth close to $1,000. The 1913 5$ gold coin is really neat, you don't see those all that often and yes it looks around VF-20 which makes it worth at $400. You uncle must often interesting stuff.

I just received a box of coins and bills. $1 and $2 bills from 1954 and up. Nothing rare to speak of. No devils face or anything real interesting. Just a bunch of consecutive order notes crispy crisp. 1973 $1 and 1974 $2. I think its the 1974 $2. I dont have them in front of me.....Thx again for the reply
