Journey Replacement note indicators

Hi All:

I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to "how does one know if a Journey note is a replacement?"

I got an uncirculated $20 out of a banking machine with the serial number AYT9959174 and something is tickling the back of my mind that 99 is the indicator.

I guess that's the thing. To-date, we do not know a way of determining an "insert" note other than finding them in bundles.

This is true, i have found on many occasions journey replacement notes and EVZ/EWI birds $20 replacement notes all in really poor quality.
I was lucky once to find an FDZ Knight Thiessen in EF condition in change. Both of the HNH replacement notes i found were in really poor condition and whenever i had found an HNH in almost perfect unc condtion, they always fell outside the replacement note range  :-/

1.  1 out of 10,000 bricks gets seen and the inserts/ radars removed.  That would actually still seem like alot: 1000 out of every full prefix run.

Actually, since there are 1000 notes in a brick, 10,000 bricks represents a full prefix run of ten million notes. I suspect that perhaps a hundred bricks are searched for any one prefix of the lower denomination notes. If this is the case, potentially one percent of the Inserts produced is captured in UNC.

I went this week and asked to the teller if they had received new 10$(as usual). She answered me, she had not seen new 10$ for awhile. I withdraw 250$ in 10$ to see what I could get. She looked at me and said : there are not too bad, usually they are worst...I got 4 inserts in very bad shape. 3 FEH and 1 BEI if I remember, I decided to spend all these ten. I had no regret...At work I haven't found new 10$ for awhile too and the 5$ I get are in best shape than the 10$. Sometime I find EF or AU 5$, but EF 10$ are become pretty rare...If you want to get new 10$, you have to be teller or harrass your bank to know if they have received something...
