So I came across a '54 $1 note today that has the missing serial numbers and looks similar to the missing numbers error from this web site

http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-notes-errors-varieties.php

But can't find any valuation for this note anywhere....

Can anyone help me determine the value for this kinda note? I would say the condition is somewhere between VG to F...

The book says $800 in UNC, so adjust the price accordingly.  Also, be careful with these notes.  There are some fakes out there with the serial number chemically erased somehow.

Anyway I can determine if it has been chemically altered?

Got a pic or two?

The lower the grade, the more likely the error is not authentic.

Does the note smell different?

I never thought to smell it... interesting!

I only saw it for all of 30 seconds really.. I have bought a bunch of .50 cent pieces of this one guy he has said he has a bunch of old bills...

He brought this out... I guess thinking I would bite right away with a buy price... but I told him I would look into it first. But from all that I have read and for those that have e-mailed me with some responses it's sounding like the note is a fake...
