"Way to go", Regent, on making contact with the Bank of Canada and getting a fast response.  Certainly, it was not the kind of answer we hoped for, but I applaud the initiative you took.  I am not convinced that the Bank does not have the answers.  I still think they have the information, but either they can't find it because it is old and hidden somewhere, or they just can't be bothered to assign someone to look into it.  They absolutely have to know how many $50 and $100 notes were printed and issued, otherwise there is no accountability behind their ability to print currency.  The numismatic community needs an inside man.  ;)

Maybe a formal FOI request is in order? It only costs five bucks. I have one in right now with the BoC.
