I missed this post during the Christmas season but there is a real story behind the kids on the Journey $5 banknote. In the late 1990's, these kids were actually photographed in a park in Beckwith Township, Ontario, in the Ottawa Valley just west of Ottawa and near Carleton Place, Ontario at the local ice rink. These kids do have names and there is recognition of this event in the Beckwith Township Hall. It is really cool that the Bank of Canada actually used images of real kids as opposed to graphic images. Just imagine when these kids get old and tell their grandkids that they were on "real paper money" sometime in the 2050's or 2060's! Will we still have tangible currency in our hands at that time in the future.
