1937 $10 Gordon-Towers N/B Prefix

This is the first error of this kind that I have ever seen on a 1937 $10 note.  The prefix N/B was used on the 1937 $2 Gordon-Towers issue but not on the $10.  This note has been graded/authenticated by BCS.

There is no Charlton catalogue number for this type of error so BCS has just designated it as a "serial number error".  Interesting find.

I am going to be on the lookout for any stray N/B 1937 $10 which might be out there (esp in the world market). Great eye (& memory of the acceptable prefixes) whoever found this. Was that you?

It wasn't my find, but you can own this note if you are willing to pay the seller's $100,000 asking price on eBay.

In my humble opinion it shouldn't be priced much more than a mismatched prefix error but that may not end up being the final market price based on its uniqueness.

It should be more than a mismatched prefix error but not $100,000 (not even close even if it were in UNC IMO).  it's unfortunate but there's all types of speculators & flea market types who sniff opportunities (whether real or imagined).  That's "planet eBay" for you.

They reposted this note on eBay & it sold for 1,000 I actually missed the auction and was rather surprised it didn’t go for more.
