March 7th finds:
I picked up a large haul of customer wrapped coins from the bank today.
The signs are promising; I think I see a silver quarter and a 12 sided nickel right off the bat!
Wish me luck…

March 9th coin roll hunting results:

I finished hunting all of the coins I brought home the other day.

Here’s what I found:

Two colour 2021 dimes
$5 in US coins
Some pure nickel 5c coins
A colour 2017 quarter
Some 1968 nickel alloy dimes
Two 1969 dimes
One 1952 dated nickel and one silver quarter dated 1938!

I was reluctant to take the rolls of quarters because they are usually a bust, but then silver shows up in them, so you never know…

The worst part of roll hunting is short rolls…There were 8 nickel rolls in this batch with 39 coins in them so I was down 40 cents.  😡

Enjoy!

March 10th finds:

I picked up a small load of coins today.  Banknotes have dried up at my banks recently.
There wasn’t much in these rolls except $1.75 in US coins, a 1992 Saskatchewan quarter, a nicer 1973 RCMP quarter and a nicer 1990 dime along with a colour 2021.

To add insult to injury, one of the quarter rolls was short one coin, so I was down 25 cents.   >:(

Enjoy!

March 15th:  March Break madness!  Part 2.

I went to a couple of banks on Wednesday and I managed to get some paper notes.
They are nothing special, but I’ll take any paper money I can get!

Enjoy!

March 15th:  March Break Main Branch Madness!

I went to the Main branch and the teller was kind enough to give me some paper notes.  Nothing special in the lot, but there was one CDF polymer $10 that of course was ripped and repaired with tape.  There were a lot of journey $20s in the mutilated pile…I wish I could afford to take them all!

Enjoy!

March 15th:  March Break madness! part 3:

I acquired this small lot of paper money via trade today.  Nothing special, but it was still nice to receive paper notes!

March 17th finds:

Today, I picked up $100 in dimes and to my surprise, there were treasures inside!

Highlights include:

80 US cents
A colour 2021 dime
A 2012 dated ten cent coin from Barbados
A 5 pence coin from the UK dated 1991
And best of all, a badly mangled 1964 silver dime!

Mangled or not, free silver is always fun to find!

Enjoy!

March 20th finds:

Back on the paper!

Today, one of my banks gave me a boatload of circulated paper notes, mostly 1973 $1s and 1986 $2s, with some $5s and $10s mixed in.

There was nothing much in this lot except for an EAX replacement $1, a ratty old BFF prefix note that looked like it was a wallet note, and four notes that were cut (badly) by hand from two $1 banknote sheets!

Why anybody would cut up a banknote sheet to deposit it at face value is beyond me.  🙁

There were also some BB— and BG— notes for Claude.

Also of note were some 1986 $2s in the AU— prefixes.  Is there anybody interested in this data?
If so, I can share it.

I decided to buy some rolled coins as well, because usually when I find paper notes, I also find good coins.

Enjoy!

March 29th finds:
What a day it was!

Today, I picked up some rolled coins from two different banks.
The rolls yielded some treasures including:
Several 1992 Provincial quarters, four RCMP quarters, $3.35 in US coins, a 12 sided nickel from 1961, a 1967 rabbit nickel, some foreign coins including a 10 pence coin and two five pence coins from the UK, a 50c coin from Mexico, two 2023 dimes, 33 pure nickel nickels, and, best of all a nice 1965 silver dime!

There was one 1968 dime that looked an awful lot like silver, but it was magnetic.

I then went grocery shopping and I found 45 cents in the Coinstar reject tray.

From there, I went to the ATM to withdraw some cash.  Out comes a $5 radar note!

Enjoy!
