In Oct. 2004 I acquired 20 brand new $20 Journey banknotes from BNS. I noticed the notes were in consecutive order except for one. This note was replaced with a banknote with a different prefix,
AYV8901120. IS this a insert/replacement note?

Hello Dr. Bill   :)

A great place to check is in the High/Low section within this forum.  At the top of the $20 catagory, you wil find  listings for all prefixes.

I checked the AYV listing and no inserts have ever been reported.  The high and low are at their respective extremes, so it is unlikely that your note is an insert.  It is quite possible that it was mixed in from some tellers drawer.

Keep looking.   ;)

The Mar. 2005  CPMS newsletter indicated AYV 8.910 - 8.919 as inserts. Freedomschoice Canadian Paper Money website list AYV 8.900 - 8.920 as a range for inserts. I believe he is correct because insert replacement notes comes in blocks of 20,000 or multiples of 20,000.

Well scratch my back with a hacksaw!   :o

I stand corrected; page 20 of the CPMS newsletter does list AYV 8.910 - 8.919 as an insert range.  Your note is definitely a keeper.

Hello JB-2005

The paper work in front of me says that the range for AYV is 8,900,000-8,920,00 a little bit different then the one above, but the same as DR. Bill's range.  Sounds like you got a keeper. Darcy 8)

Actually today i had a chance to look at Freedomschoice's website... all the insert ranges are up to date and there are even some insert notes listed that i was completely unaware of. More notes to search for now  ;D. Great work freedomchoice and great website  :D

i do not mean to confuse matters further, but today, i got from circulation, one AYV 8840812, who is to say it is or is not an insert ? I certainly hope the CPMS newletter's range is not the definitive conclusion.

Your note falls outside the range. Its very doubtfull that the range will be broadened further.
