Hello everyone,
I recently bought a short sequence of 1954 $1 consecutive notes and noticed something peculiar concerning the plate numbers. All even numbered note in the sequence had plate numbers 201/212 and the odd numbered notes had plate numbers 179/213.
Does anyone know enough about the process used to explain why two alternating plates would be used? It does not seem to be the case in more modern issues, where the same plate is used repetedly. The notes in question are Bouey Rasminsky British American notes.
