Hi everyone. On the bottom of the homepage, right now it says-3 spiders, 7 guests & 5 users. Can someone tell me what a Spider is?

A googlebot or ask jeeves bot or yahoo bot, they are called spiders because they crawl from one website to another and go over every word and follow every link so that a site can have listings by search on search egines such as google.
spiders are good in this case and show that the forum is getting listed by subject matter and word strings to be found in a search

This is a new feature I recently installed. Previously, all spiders were shown simply as guests. Now they are being properly reported.

Spiders are nothing to worry about... As mentioned previously, they simply crawl around the site indexing various pages.
