$50 Journey Mismatch

Here's a awesome find today...
I know that the guide states three or more digits is $650 for UNC
But it doesnt mention anything about the extra block number
Any ideas?

Is that a tear by the top (close to the 0)

unfortunately, it is a minor tear about the width of a nickle

Very nice find.  It is a VF+ because of the tear, otherwise I think it should be aUNC.  I am not sure if the extra block adds that much value.  I think a couple of years ago someone found 9 $50 notes with 2 having extra blocks.  I know that there is a $10 note with the same extra block.

I am trying to put together a list of mismatched serial numbers reported so far for the Journey Series.  I'll post it on the forums when I am done.

If you were grading it VF+ without noticing the tear then it would probably move down a grade to F+ with tear. Using the scale supplied in the Charlton book there would be a premium of around 25% of the $650 or $165, this is added to the value of the note so it should sell in the $215 range. Extra block number could bring it up to the $225-$250 range IMHO.

I was trying to follow the charlton guide on grading, it would be a EF, but then again that tear..

Hi again! tears and pinholes are frowned upon to many collectors and yes I believe it would bring the grade down a level and in most cases eliminate many buyers myself included. With that said I see you have adjust your grade from high VF up to EF, if this is true then it would be of a higher value also as I was quoting on your original grading. I believe mmars estimate to be realistic at this higher grade and he's very knowledgeable of the current market demands and prices. Certainly not all note with the same technical grade have the same eye appeal that's why if your looking at five different EF notes you choose one over the others.... IMHO!!!

I would pay $1500 for it if i was for sale

A 2008 $20 Mismatch Serial 2 Digit Error Note-CCCS Graded VF 30 sold for $270 us on ebay
a $50 with 6 digit Mismatch is very hard and rare to find  why some members are giving value
from 300 - 650 , but for sure it's worth much more than that the demand for this error is high
supply and demand  ......

I know that there was an image posted of this mismatched $50 bill.  Does anyone know what happened to the image on this thread?  I thought that as along as the image was posted on imageshack it would remain visible on the thread.
