Sorry for my english...I usually speak french !!  ;)

I was looking the National Currency Collection of the Bank of Canada.
One banknote got all my attention :
1$ 1954 E/M ... AND WE CAN CLEARLY SEE THERE'S NO FPN !!!

LOOK BY YOURSELF:

We know that some:  *B/M, T/M, U/M, W/N have no FPN... but what about E/M ??

The FPN on most notes in the early M series are very difficult to read. They are VERY finely engraved and nearly impossible to see without strong magnification.

I've looked at a very substantial number of $1 notes and I assure you that there is a FPN present, but it is impossible to see at that resolution.

Why they keep that banknote in the collection ??

All the others 1$ 1954 in the National Currency Collection have:

    -  *
or - low serial number
or - low serial number from changeover
or - radar, solid, million

It's only E/M6163486 nothing special with that serial number !!

I don't understand....

You should direct that last question to the staff at the Currency Museum. Nobody here will have anything but rumours and suppositions.
