OK I saw this go recently on a popular auction site, and it sold for big money for what it is in my option.

I personally cannot consider this a legitimate error as the laminate can be removed from the top layer of the metallic strip. I have seen this many time with circulated notes, and I have one somewhere in my collection where the top laminate is starting to peel away from the metallic strip. This will result in the link also being removed from the area of the note as well.

If I am missing something here, please do let me know what is going on here.

I can see this being a legitimate error if it was pulled from a uncirculated brick, and was not circulated.

If this was sold by a buyer from my neck of the woods, I've seen this note and it didn't look all that interesting to me. I've had $10 notes where the strip has almost completely peeled off so I really wouldn't call something like this an error unless it's uncirculated as you say.

Curious..... what did it go for?

It would appear that this note has been discussed on this forum previously...
