I think that the MODIFY option should be returned since it seems ridiculous not to be able to modify a post to correct mistakes or add/delete items that are no longer are needed in the post.

The modify option is gone? I hadn't even noticed. I agree that it should not have been removed. Sometimes we make mistakes and wish to correct them.

It's not a mistake.

We had this discussion previously.

There were other reasons for removing the edit permission, namely that it was being used to cover one's tracks or 'erase' history.  That's not what it's for.  The perceived need for modify isn't strong enough to make it available to everyone, which is why it is still (but only) available for supporters.

So in other words, if your a supporter you can cover your tracks or 'erase' history..

Interesting way of twisting it.  No, if you are a supporter, you are entrusted with the ability to modify posts in the expectation that you won't abuse it.  Should that abuse occur, you may lose your supporter status, modification rights will disappear entirely and/or other consequences may be incurred.

The long and the short of it is don't abuse things.  If you do, consequences will follow.
