Here is a comparison of the number of notes in circulation in Canada and Australia. Note that in Australia $50 is by far the most dominant note, it's widely available in ATMs and the population is used to these notes. Similarly, 50 euro note is a most commonly used denomination in the Eurozone. Perhaps it's time for the Canadians to start using fifties more...
