Marc-Andre, our "Eagle eye" researcher, found the following note in circulation in a used bundle on May 31st, 2013.  It is a brand new note in the CTC S31-G12 series with the Marco Marrone / Stephen Wetmore signatures. It is dated 2012 and the serial numbers pick-up where the last series left off.  Another sign that Canadian Tire is committed to their CTC Money program.  After a lull of 4 years, they have recently issued, new 25¢, 50¢, $1.00 and now the $2.00 notes dated 2012 in the last little while.  Can you find a lower $2.00 note in this series?  If so send me a PM, I would be happy to hear from you.

Great news! I am happy to hear that Canadian Tire hasn't given up yet on their currency.

So, what happened to the 5¢ and 10¢ CTM notes?  Did they discontinue such notes because of inflation?

The CTC S31 series has 2011 & 2012 -5¢ notes, 2011 & 2012 - 10 notes, 2011 - 25¢ notes, 2012 - 50¢ notes, 2012 - $1.00 notes and now 2012 - $2.00 notes.  They also have a newer CTC S32 series with 2012 - 5¢ and 10¢ notes.  They have not discontinued anything!

Thank You Bill, that is great.  The changeover should have been exactly at the 10 million mark.  Our high for the last series of $2.00 notes is 0009989816.  We are still trying to find the changeover!

Hi again Jay4e, I'm pleased to let you know I now have another low for the the new series. Here are a couple of coupons I just came across with Marco Marrone / Stephen Wetmore signatures, both have a 2012 printing date.

Cheers, Bill

And it is binary too :)

I am not a CT currency collector but find this discussion very interesting.

Wonder what paper money would say if it could talk?

I haven't seen $2 CTM in a long time...Maybe it because you have to spend $2K at the store to get one!  My local CT stores don't have them in the till and I'm in Toronto!

Dean,

You are right, not all CTC Stores or CTC Gas Bars use the $2.00 notes!  With a 2K purchase, you would actually receive $8.00 in CTC money!  CTC Stores currently hand out $0.40 per $100.00 purchase, before taxes.  But at a CTC Gas Bar you can get $2.00 with a purchase of 50 litres of gas and a 10X multiplier coupon.  All you need to do is find a CTC Gas Bar in your area that hands out $2.00 notes.  The Corporation has reverted their coupons to the original strategy that they started out with in 1958 which was to encourage the client that buys gas to visit the store.

Thanks for the clarification jay4e...
The closest CT gas bar to me is the original one at Yonge and Davenport...Is it possible to use the multiplier coupons at the OnRoute pit stops on the 401?

How does it work at the gas-bar... If i paid by credit-card or debit would i still get CT-money back? I have a CT gas-bar not far from my place, maybe i might fill up there, i usually put between 35-40L each time.
