mixed Journey-Frontier brick

got this mixed brick of polymer/paper tens yesterday and found:

2002: 3 Knight-Dodge's
2004: 4 Jenkins-Dodge
2007: 50 Jenkins-Dodge BTG-U
2008: 183 Jenkins-Carney BTW-Z and BFA-H including a nice UNC BFB keeper
2009: 482 Jenkins-Carney BFH-W incl a new low SN: BFP 0013551; a radar: BFU 5883885; new high SN's: BFV 9946204 and BFW 8237798
2013: 278 M-C poly's FEW-Z and FTA-D incl a radar/repeater: FEY 5452545, new low SN: FTB 2021430 and two interesting SN UNC keepers: FTB 2910000 and FTD 5366666
So five new bills for my collection and 5 new SN records   

I built this free-standing stack of cotton bills and defy anyone to beat this record at 5.75 inches:

Nice finds 

It looks like you got a bit of everything.  I find it funny how even after all these years those pre security strip 10$ and 5$ notes have a tendency to show up every now and then.  A cashier at a store here wouldn't take one because she thought it was counterfeit  .  I mean come on up until 5 or so years ago these things were the newest issue.

I did something like this with a box (50 rolls) of quarters this week.  My real goal was to harvest any US quarters, but I also recorded how many coins of each date and variety were found.  Some interesting results!

I've done the same with pennies (when they were still around) and nickels.  It's very fun indeed I can imagine brick hunting with notes is similar.

So did you enter them all into the SNDB?

If you haven't already bricker I would enter all the notes from that brick into the SNDB even if they are common stuff.  It helps with research and at the same time it can tell u if any notes are replacements (if you haven't already checked for them).

 I enter all the notes I get now and its fun seeing if something you thought was common turns out to be special.  Plus every time I do enter notes it feels good knowing I'm contributing to something important 

Yes I put them into the SNDB...that's half the fun of bricking!

Finding radars and other keepers is icing on the cake.     

I definitely plan to do more, just have to wait until my bank account can tolerate ten grand missing for a day without bouncing any cheques!

A few people were asking if the bank charges for bricks. The quick answer is no, not if you're a corporate customer or have a VIP card or similar. And I need to place the order about a week in advance as the brick is assembled at a central branch and shipped out via Brinks.

But they told me if I want to specify "all polymer" or "all paper" it will cost $27! So I prefer to take my chances and take whatever they have on hand.

how long does it take to enter a note? I estimate 30 seconds... so a brick would require over 8 hours with no breaks...I cant imagine doing that   

Actually if you print up the FPN & BPN of BAI and CBN notes found on the link in the SNDB:

-you can enter your numbers on a MS Word (or other spreadsheet/document) and find the easiest # to see (typically FPN on the Journey $5/$10/$20) & determine the BPN from the chart. 
When the notes are in a sequential run, you can only add the first and last number of the run so this also cuts down on the time it takes to enter numbers from a brick. 

For polymer notes, there is no need to refer to the chart since the FPN & BPN are identical but you do have to check your FPN/BPN on a more regular interval since they tend to change every 200 notes.  Also with the polymer it easiest to read the BPN over the FPN. 

Once you are finished recording all your numbers -you can just Copy and Paste your info (Prefix/ Serial # /FPN BPN) into the SNDB and this saves considerable time.

It seems clarification is in order: Runs of sequential or nearly sequential notes need only have 1-2 notes entered.  If one obtains a quantity of assorted notes such as a bundle of circulated notes, each note should be entered to the SNDB.
