My collegue has just returned from a visit to her Romanian homeland.

Here are a couple of notes she brought back to show everyone:

There is a thin line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'.

Nice, but these guys are scheduled to be devalued.  I'm sure you saw the thread about it around here somewhere.

Nice note. how much would 100,000 be in CND?

100,000.00 ROL = 4.33257 CAD :o

Romania will cut away four zeros and will issue in July a complete new set of Guardian(R) notes. The size and NOmination will be the same as the Euro. The exchange rate will be 2 Lei to 1 Euro.
Seems the are moving closer to the EU.
(some of this info is based on rumours)

Maybe they will find their way in the secound issue of the "World Plastic Money Catalogue".

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) decided to launch a new 200 RON banknote that will start circulating beginning with December 1, 2006, said yesterday BNR's governor, Mugur Isarescu.

Thanks for your images.Anyway,if anyone else would like to see images of the newest Romanian currency PM me or reply here and i will be more than happyn to upload them here.The new polymer notes are in the following deniominations:

1 leu,5 lei,10 lei,50 lei,100 lei and 500 lei(issued at 2005,July 1st).

You guys already seen the image for the 200 Lei.
