1866 Province of Canada $2 banknote

Hello folks,

Sorry if this is the classic "first post asking for value" on here. I am not a collector.. well.. I am a collector but not of coins or banknotes. I collect classic photography cameras so this is far outside of my realm of knowledge. I have done limited research on it but am impressed at the experience of the members here so I thought I would post it.

Several years ago my wife was given this 1866 Province of Canada $2 banknote from an elderly neighbour whom she helped out for years. My wife forgot she even had it until doing some spring cleaning recently. We are thinking of selling it at auction.

It is PC-2a in the catalog, payable to Montreal with serial number 082836/D.

Nice note! The catalogue number is PC-3A and the values in the 2014 Charlton catalogue are $2,000 in G, $4,000 in VG.

I would think it would be valued at $4000.-$6000 because of the condition.

A very nice and scarce note indeed....... 150 years old.

I trust it would worth this range. It also depends on how the market is like sometimes.
